I've had such a crazy, insane, hectic, and absolutely life changing summer! I graduated from Doane College, took 12 hours of graduate classes, moved to Seward, went to 5 weddings, and started setting up my classroom for school (which starts a week from today. Yikes!)
Not only am I blessed with my dream job, but I have also been blessed with a brand new building in which my career will begin! Here are some pictures of what I've done in my room so far!
Picture #1: I moved the tables from rows into table groups of 4. This will make working in small groups possible with little to no class disruption. Each table has a caddie with pencils, scissors, a ruler, and markers.
Photo #2: I will use these folders to hold handouts for the week. If a student was absent, they will easily be able to find the handout from the day they missed.
Photo #3: This board will hold the weekly schedule of activities, tests/quizzes, projects, and assignments. Notice the Dr. Seuss border from Target! :)
Photo #4: I'm not quite sure how I feel about this board...it looks like it belongs in a 1st grade room, but oh well! It will work for the first few weeks of school! I added the classroom rules under the "Welcome Back" portion.
Photo #5: It's so nice to have so much storage! The Christmas lights are pretty sweet, I think!
Photo #6: My favorite part of the room!!!!! The reading corner. I got the idea from Pinterest and found that it was really easy to make! I got a set of two curtains from IKEA for $4.99 and a hula hoop from Walmart. Then I added a rug, some pillows (one pillow isn't pictured), and some tissue paper flowers! I've already tested it out...and it's awesome, if I do say so myself!
I have added some posters and I will be getting a bookshelf for my classroom library soon. I'll post more pictures when that's done! I've been having so much fun setting everything up. I'm such an organization freak that I've literally been day dreaming about where I'm going to put things! I can't wait for the students to come in and enjoy it!
More coming soon from Miss Wolfe's classroom!
grace and peace,
Mair
