Odds and Ends

This weekend my parents came down to visit my sister and me in Lincoln. It's always so fun to see them and spend time with them!

We ate some great Greek food, went to TARGET, had Mary Kay Facials (if YOU want one, let me know!), went for coffee, and shopped around the Haymarket.

It was a great day.

Changes

Hello, dear readers--


It seems like a lot of changes have happened in the month or so! My brother moved to California to study at Eternity Bible College--pray for him! We are so proud of what he is doing and how he is letting God work through him so far away!

I became a substitute teacher for Tri County Schools! Woohoo!!!


Perhaps the most exciting (and dramatic) change is my decision to become a Mary Kay consultant! I'm so excited to have such easy access to AMAZING products! At this point in my Mary Kay "career," I'm not looking to drive a Cadillac, but I would LOVE to hold facials and parties with any of you ladies! And of course, if you need products, I will be more than happy to order them for you! 


During my decision process, I thought a lot about why I would want to do this...and my biggest reason was to get a discount on great makeup. I found myself to be obsessed with this and I even made a wish list of products I would buy as soon as I saved enough money! As fun as that was, it got me thinking about my obsession with outer beauty. I needed to remind myself of what God had to say about this subject. Here are some verses I found:


1 Peter 3:3-4 says "What matters is not your outer appearance—the styling of your hair, the jewelry you wear, the cut of your clothes—but your inner disposition. Cultivate inner beauty, the gentle, gracious kind that God delights in."


1 Samuel 16:7 says "God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart."


Proverbs 31:30 says "Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God."


Genesis 1:27 says "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."


Humans look at what they see on the outside--but God looks at the inside. Which do YOU think is more important? God already likes what He sees on the outside; He created us perfectly in His image. I need to be constantly reminded of the importance of inside beauty. It's eternal.

I want to incorporate these verses in EVERY Mary Kay facial and party I give. It is so important, as women, to be reminded of the importance of what God sees: our hearts.

The Good Life Including a Bookmark

I've made a couple of projects recently that I would like to share with you!

The first is a little embroidery that I made for my brother. He's leaving "The Good Life" and heading to California to go to Bible college out there. We are all SO proud of him and I couldn't be more excited to see how he grows and changes. It's an exciting/scary time for the Wolfe family.

I made this for Brian so that he won't forget that he has so many people in Nebraska who love him very much.

The next project is a felt bookmark that I found on Pinterest. It was SUPER easy and took NO time at all!

I used gray felt for the front and mustard yellow felt for the back (you can't see the back in any of the pictures, sorry!)  I embroidered only the front piece before using hot glue to seal the sides. Make sure you leave enough felt unglued so you can slide the corner of the pages into the little pocket!

They're fun and a great idea for little gifts!

Nan Lawson

I recently found this illustrator named Nan Lawson (you can see her website here). Her drawings are so cute and fun and JUST my style! I would LOVE to be able to draw characters like she does.

Day of Food

Today, Britni (one of my roommates) and I ate a lot.

I feel as though I never stopped eating.

I snapped a few photos of the highlights:

The Adair House

About a year ago, my grandparents bought a neglected house in the small town of Adair, Iowa. The house had been damaged in a fire and was left sitting empty. Last Easter I took some pictures of the house after they had cleared out some of the junk. The day after Christmas we went over to see the house finished and fixed. 

Thanks to the hard work of my grandparents, brother, and many others, Adair now has a lovely new home for sale--if only I could buy it!

And here are some pictures that I absolutely love...

It was so exciting to see the house looking SO great! I think it's amazing to see my family use their talents to turn something ugly into something beautiful. It reminds me of our Savior. With his grace and mercy we are able to be made new. Our lives are the before pictures in this post, and by what Jesus did for us on the cross, we are able to be cleaned, rebuilt, and made new.

What a great and undeserved blessing.
