Lacey Necklace

Here is the project that I am most proud of. It's a necklace that I made by sewing together crocheted flowers, circles, and leaves. Once I joined them, I chained 30 and attached the chain to both sides.

Super easy and super cute!

I hope you have enjoyed the many projects I have worked on over the past month. I also hope that they have inspired you. Now that classes have started, I'm afraid my crocheting days will be few and far between. This makes me terribly sad.

busy, busy, busy...

M-A-I-R-I-N

Hello everyone! It's been quite a few days since I've last posted and I can't say it's because I've been super busy. In fact, I have enjoyed three full weeks of doing absolutely nothing but crocheting, reading, playing Dutch Blitz with my brother and his friends, and spending time in the Wolfe house.

I have completed several crochet projects however, I forgot my camera at school so I will have to post about those later. I'm so excited about all of them

If you know me well or even if you don't, you may know that some people have issues pronouncing my name. Let me make it easy for you: it rhymes with Karen, Aaron, Sharon, and Darren. It starts with an "emmmmmm" sound, then the word AIR and then the word IN. Hopefully you now know how to say my name.

Here's a small list of some of the names I have been called throughout the course of my life:

Marvin
Marian
Barren
Matrix
Margarita
Marney
Mary
Malrin
Maren
Marilyn
Mairam

None of those are my name, so please don't call me by any of them.

I've grown to absolutely love my name over the years. It's Irish and means "bitter," much like the name "Mara" that Naomi chooses to call herself after the death of her husband and two sons in the story of Ruth. Not the greatest name meaning, but that's where my middle name comes in: Grace. Because of God's grace, we don't have to be bitter, we can allow Him to change us. If we accept Jesus to be the King of our lives, then the world's bitterness doesn't have to creep into our hearts. We are made clean and new by grace.

I don't know if my parents put my first and middle name together intentionally, but I have found it to be a picture and a reminder for me to give thanks for all God has done in my life.

A Whiter than Snow Day

Since it was a snow day, my roommates and I did some deep cleaning. We vacuumed everything! And we even CLEANED the vacuum!

As I was tidying up my desk, I came to the realization that I needed a little something in which to place my keys and phone which are usually just sitting in my way.

Here's what I came up with:

I'm very happy with the way it turned out!

It has been a crazy and very exciting couple of days. My brother accepted Jesus as his Savior last night and I'm rejoicing in God's faithfulness and answered prayers!

Praise God for making us even whiter than the beautiful snow that's covering the ground.

Pattern Houskeeping

Hey everyone! Here are two patterns that I've been meaning to post. The first is for a super easy pair of slippers. They are just made out of 6 granny squares and single crocheted together.

Here's the blog where I found this super easy slipper pattern:

http://www.purlbee.com/granny-square-slippers/

The second pattern is for the neck warmer that I posted about a few weeks ago. I made it up and I don't know how well I can write a pattern, but I sure tried.

CH 29

SC in 3rd CH from hook, *CH 3, miss 3 CHs, DC in next 3 CHs, CH 3, miss 3 CHs, SC repeat from*

Continue until the neck warmer is a foot and a half long. Sew on 3 buttons, and enjoy!

Abbreviations:

CH: chain

SC: single crochet

DC: double crochet

Happy crocheting everyone!

Simon the Cowl

My sister, Caitie, recently bought a super cute "cowl" on Etsy and I was totally wanting it. I took a closer look at it the other night when we met for dinner and shopping at Trader Joe's and I decided to try to make one.

It was so easy! All I did was start with maybe 40 chains and then used two small skeins of Woolease gray yarn. Once I used up all the yarn and made sure it was long enough to wrap around my head a few times, I connected the two ends with a row of slip stitches. Here it is:

I'm pretty thrilled with Simon.

A post is coming soon of a very cute (and easy) pair of slippers!

I hope everyone is having a great start to their new year

Colo

Hey, everyone. It's been a while!

The Wolfe family had a pretty busy holiday season. We took our second annual trip to the Colorado Rockies for some skiing at Loveland. We had a lot of fun skiing, eating, playing wii, and being together as a family. It was great...I didn't want to come back to flat-land-Nebraska!

Now it's interterm here at Doane so all I have is one and half hours of choir rehearsal everyday. It's pretty stressful...but I think I can manage! I will hopefully get a post up of the rest of my crochet projects that I have been working on.

Here are some pictures from my trip:
